1,000 meters of positive elevation gain is well-earned, requiring just under 40 kilometers to achieve. This is a full-scale adventure for trail runners seeking intensity, linking perched hamlets, wild valleys, and open plateaus. Your mental strength will be tested with technical sections, but there are also flowing stretches—plus the option to shorten the route at several points, tempting you to fight on and chase the full 1,000 m of ascent.
The route follows Circuit 4, but at mid-point it heads up to the heights of Sauliac-sur-Célé. You set out on a particularly beautiful extension of a few kilometers along technical trails. After a steep climb and a strong push, the rocky descent toward the village rewards you with a stunning panorama, followed by a passage at the foot of the cliffs of Vieux Sauliac, where houses cling to the mountainside. You then continue toward Marcilhac along the rest of Circuit 4, passing through the Combe Nègre. But upon reaching theng village, you branch off onto a loop by joining Circuit 1, exploring the caselles and the rural heritage of the area. The final section remains challenging with some technical parts—a last reminder that this route is both complete and authentic.
